Ingredients
12 slices toasted bread
2 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups grated Mexican style fresh cheese
1 1/2 cups raisins
4 tbsp Gold ’n Soft® Vegetable Oil Spread plus 1 tbsp for greasing baking pan
1 cup heavy cream whipped (optional)
Directions
Spread 4 tablespoons of Gold ’n Soft® evenly over the slices of bread, break into 2″ pieces.
Mix water, sugar, spices and salt in a sauce pot. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
Grease an oblong baking pan with Vegetable Oil Spread. Layer bread, cheese, raisins and butter. Pour syrup over bread mixture and bake at 350º F for 20 minutes or until syrup is absorbed.
May be served warm or cold. Top with whipped cream if desired.
